What is Phishing?

Phishing is a cybercrime where attackers pose as legitimate institutions (like Janhost, Google, or your bank) to trick you into providing sensitive data like passwords or credit card numbers.

Red Flags to Look For

  • Verify the Sender: Check the actual email address, not just the display name. (e.g., support@janhost-billing-update.com is FAKE).
  • Urgency: "Your account will be suspended in 24 hours!" panic-inducing language.
  • Orphan Links: Hover over links (don't click) to see where they really go.
  • Generic Greetings: "Dear Customer" instead of your name.

Note: We will never ask for your password via email.
